How Automatic Face Blurring Protects Your Privacy
In the digital age, sharing photos of events, classroom activities, crowds, or documentation often requires censoring face features to safeguard personal details or adhere to child privacy regulations (e.g. COPPA, GDPR). Uploading your original, unblurred images to remote processing servers to blur them runs the risk of leakages.
100% In-Browser Face Tracking
TinyImagefy's Face Blur tool performs facial landmark search completely locally. The integration of local tracking algorithms executes directly in your browser tab. When you load a photo, our script scans the image pixel arrays, detects face coordinate features, and overlays a canvas redaction mask. The source photo is never uploaded to any remote server.
Fine-Tuned Face Censorship Controls
- Auto-Detection: Instantly scans and isolates multiple faces in a single photograph.
- Custom Scaling: You can click and drag, reposition, scale, or remove individual face masks using the editor controls.
- Select Censor Type: Choose between classic smooth Gaussian blur, pixelated mosaic style, or solid black bars to redact eyes or full faces.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the auto-detect feature work?
The auto-detect feature runs a local computer vision model (tracking.js) in your browser tab. It scans the contrast gradients of the image to spot human faces.
If a face is at an angle or partially hidden, you can easily use the manual rectangle or circle tools to cover any missed areas.
Can I blur multiple faces in a batch?
Yes! You can load multiple images into the queue. Each image will undergo face detection, and you can download all processed images in a single ZIP archive.
You can also sync the exact coordinates of manual masks across all files in the batch using the Sync Censors button.
