Upscaling a digital image from low to high resolution normally creates blurred edges and pixelation artifacts. To solve this, TinyImagefy's local upscaler employs edge-preserving smoothing filters (bilateral filters) combined with unsharp masking algorithms in a canvas processing layer.
Enhancement Modes Explained:
- Bilateral Denoise + Sharp: Designed to mimic deep-learning super-resolution. It uses WebGL-accelerated loops to smooth out flat gradients (reducing image noise) while dynamically sharpening high-contrast borders (preserving textures and texts).
- Lanczos-3: A high-quality sinc mathematical interpolation method. It calculates pixel curves to prevent ringing artifacts, making it ideal for high-resolution photo upscaling.
- Nearest Neighbor: Disables blurring entirely. Best for upscaling classic retro video game sprites and pixel art without ruining block borders.
