Configuration
EXIF tags are primarily embedded in JPEG files. PNG, WebP, and SVG files will return basic dimensions and file size characteristics.
What is EXIF Image Metadata?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is a standard specification for formats used by digital cameras, smartphones, and scanners. When you take a photo, the device embeds metadata parameters inside the binary header of the file. This includes exposure times, ISO levels, GPS locations, lenses used, timestamps, and model numbers.
Local Binary Inspection
TinyImagefy's metadata viewer processes files natively inside your browser. When you load a photo, our script parses the binary structures of the file directly using browser buffers. Unlike cloud-based tools that upload your pictures to remote data servers to extract properties (risking your private location metadata), our script runs 100% in your browser, keeping your GPS logs and dates private.
Why Inspect and Clean EXIF Data?
- Privacy Protection: Modern smartphones embed exact GPS coordinates when taking pictures. Inspecting files lets you verify whether private coordinates are present before uploading them to social platforms.
- Photography Settings Analysis: Inspecting ISO, F-Stop apertures, and shutter speed variables helps designers and photographers study lighting exposures and optimize photography techniques.
- Asset Audit: Check width, height, color palettes, resolutions, and file sizes to optimize image assets for web deployment.
